Due to the high cost of sending and receiving text messages (SMS) in Australia Twitter has decided to turn off the service in the land down under. The service outage seems to be a temporary situation with hopes to resolve it soon. Our friends in the outback can still use Twitter via the web and other clients, just not on their phones. Hopefully they’ll be back with us soon.

why not make and option of mobile email also available as well like my mobile email is MyMobileNumber@MyMobileOperator.com and any msg on that email is forwarded as sms to me.. it’ll help you cut costs on SMSes worldwide..
btw how much does it approximately costs to sms all those users worldwide?
