Jason Calacanis just posted about a new tool from Mahalo, currently in beta, that will let you post links to Mahalo, ma.gnolia, del.icio.us, tumblr, google and jaiku. I suspect more will come as well. I’ve been beta testing it for a week or so already, getting the inside scoop from Jason on Twitter. This is a pretty cool app and I suggest giving it a shot, especially for anyone who collects links like I do. It’ll save you a lot of time posting it to all the various social bookmarking sites. I’ve just started dabbling in submitting links to Mahalo but I’m liking the process pretty well. Unlike previous attempts at a human powered (directory), dmoz.org, Mahalo seems free of the corruption that plagues dmoz to this day, along with the weeks, or months it takes to wait to get denied.

Give the plugin a try here: Mahalo Follow.

hello.jpg

HelloTxt is a service that lets you fill out a quick form and post the same update to several popular “micro blogging” service like Twitter, Jaiku, Pownce, Tumblr and more. Just enter your message, your login details, and boom, send to as many of the services as you want. Slick. The look and feel of the site is very hip and “web 2.0″, though I hate even saying those words. I’d love to see an API for this site, though you could do the same thing yourself with the APIs for the services that have them and cURL for those that don’t. Very cool service though.

There is a little hack that Jetpacked brought into the light that makes it possible with TwitterFeed. Normally, Twitterfeed would be used to feed your blog into Twitter, but by creating a link to your Pownce accounts RSS instead of your blog, posting in one place makes it possible to post in two at the same time. You can start things off by using your OpenID to log into Twitterfeed.com, then entering your Twitter credentials, and using your Pownce feed (http://www.pownce.com/feeds/public/USERNAME) as the RSS Feed URL, and set the frequency rate. via download squad

Great idea. The only draw back I can think of is that Pownce doesn’t seem to have a character limit and Twitter does. Still, this is a pretty cool idea. The next mashup should do Twitter + Jaiku + Pownce. Maybe all these should just use Jabbr or something like that.

Why Choose Twitter vs. Jaiku

posted in Jaiku, Mashups & APIs, Web on 05/16/07 at 10:05 PM

With all the flutter over at Twitter today about the down time it was pretty common to see people posting Jaiku accounts. For those who don’t know, Jaiku is a Twitter competitor. But why choose? I’m sure clients will be coming out soon that work with both, in the mean time, TwitKu lets you post to either or both at the same time. Slick, now lets see someone do that in a client!

Another great tip from Nicki!
